Excellent article from Alain. I personally agree that the business plan in its current form is indeed not lightweight enough and the way we use it could be improved. But I don't think we should drop it all together. If your business project is any bit complex, you need some way of structuring your project phases and strategies, and a document is a great way of doing this. In the end, if you pitch your project to potential investors or even business partners, you'll need to answer core questions such as what's your business, what's the target market, what's the competition, what are your products and services, what are the company's objectives, how are you planning on reaching those objectives, and what's the financial picture. All these questions are answered in the business plan. So whether your write it in a formal plan or in presentations, you still need to think through the same questions. :) Hey, thanks for sharing.
