An unstructured world

I’ve been doing lots of research on big data analytics lately. It feels quite good to get back to my forte, the field I started my career with – data analytics, the unstructured kind.

With that being said, I thought I’d share some really interesting stats.

  • in 2010 it’s estimated that 13 Exabytes of data was stored among the enterprise and consumers. That’s roughly 13.6 million terabytes. That’s lots of data my friends (1).
  • There’s a 40% increase in data generated per year (1).
  • Approximately 90% of data is unstructured (images, videos, music, files) (2).

Food for thought!
